DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide, CAS 62568-57-4) is a 9-amino acid neuropeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) with molecular weight 848.86 Da. It was first isolated from rabbit cerebrospinal fluid by Monnier et al. in 1977. Preclinical research has studied it for: increasing delta-wave (slow-wave) sleep amplitude and duration; modulation of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and ACTH pathways relevant to HPA axis stress research; antioxidant and neuroprotective activity in neuronal oxidative stress models; and interactions with LH and GH secretion in neuroendocrine research contexts.
