Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits microbial growth and allows a single vial to be accessed multiple times over a 4-week period. Sterile water for injection has no preservative — once punctured it must be used immediately. For any research protocol requiring repeated sampling from a peptide vial, BAC water is the correct choice.
